Michael F. DeCheser

Executive Director

Michael F. DeCheser began his career at Massey Knakal over 15 years ago as assistant to Founding Partner Robert A. Knakal.

In 2000 he was promoted to Director of Sales for the downtown market, where he covered the Financial District, TriBeCa, and the Lower East Side for the next five years. His next challenge was to concentrate solely on the burgeoning Lower East Side, Chinatown and Alphabet City market where he has been Director of Sales since 2005. That year he was the proud recipient of Massey Knakal’s Louis Brause Award for Outstanding Business Development and Goodwill Promotion, a result of a stellar year in which he represented sellers in 19 transactions with a total aggregate value of $142,000,000. In 2013, he was promoted to First Vice President of Sales and in 2014, to Vice President of Sales.

During his 15 year long career, Mr. DeCheser has been involved in the sale of over 100 buildings for an aggregate value in excess of $1 billion. He has been a consistent source for such publications as the New York Times, New York Post, New York Magazine, New York Sun, Real Estate Weekly, the Mann Report and many others. A holder of a Certificate of Appointment from the State of New York Court System; he has served as a real estate expert witness on multiple occasions. Past clients of his are regularly impressed with his knowledge of the territory, professionalism, and general affability. Most importantly they are pleased with the top dollar results that he brings to the table when representing their interests.

Prior to joining Massey Knakal, Mr. DeCheser teamed up with his father to run the family business, a 50-year old construction and real estate management company. He has more than 30 years experience in the construction industry, and extensive knowledge of residential and commercial construction, renovation and restoration. He has found that his background has been invaluable to him at Massey Knakal. Running a small business he says, taught him that in order to build long-term clients, it’s essential to promise a lot but deliver even more.

Does LES Equal More? Much More.
Statistically the most diverse neighborhood in Manhattan , it’s no wonder the Lower East Side in Manhattan attracts everyone from struggling musicians to wealthy celebrities. The age old destination for many newly arrived immigrants has evolved to become the destination of choice for those looking for culture, art, music, fine dining and nightlife. The influx of development has struck fear into longtime residents that the neighborhood character will be lost, but that is most certainly not the case. LES staples such as Katz’s Deli, Russ & Daughters, Guss’ Pickles and other establishments continue to thrive. View Article
